As it relates to the Ohio DOI’s purpose in amending Rules 3901-5-01, NAFA is particularly supportive of Ohio’s efforts to encourage resident agent continuing education by requiring that all required CE credit hours are successfully completed before an agent may request license renewal. NAFA is a strong proponent of agent and producer education and believes that this clarification will provide a more robust regulatory structure that promotes up-to-date and knowledgeable sales professionals.

Furthermore, NAFA appreciates the Department’s proposed reduction in license renewal fees during the late renewal period and during the reinstatement period, as well as the inclusion of additional authority by the Ohio Superintendent of Insurance to waive such fees due to military service, long term medical disability or other special or extenuating circumstances. This is very helpful particularly in these difficult economic times.
